Baby Shark.
Today was just a great day! This morning was the first week of the James study Stacy and I are doing with a couple high school students and that seemed to go well. There's definitely some tweaking I'm going to need to do...but I felt like it was an ok first week.
Todd is also preaching through the book of Mark this series, and today we talked about the paralytic being healed after his friends dug through the roof of the house Jesus was speaking in, and lowered him down in front of Jesus. It's a powerful story for sure. I was so excited to hear we were going through Mark the next few weeks, as some of my favorite stories in Scripture are from that book. Mt. Ararat really is blessed with an incredible pastor, and every week I'm challenged by the spiritual depth Todd brings, but also the way he relates it and challenges us to live missionally. Big things are happening at my church, and it's just awesome to see and be a part of!
Today was also the day of our church wide picnic. Now, since our church is pretty large, it's kind of difficult to coordinate this massive potluck that so many churches do each year, so instead, it was left up to individual small groups to get together and fellowship together.... so we did a church wide tailgate! It was so much fun! Literally all the parking spots on the far side of our campus were filled with trucks, tents, and grills... as small groups bumped up next to other small groups. There was also a stage with some live bands and music. It really was a creative way to get the entire church together, but without having to coordinate a giant meal or something... because you know there had to be food since we're baptists and all.
The best part of the day was when the evening was capped off when we all left our tailgating spots and moved to a big open area (where someday our new worship center will be), and we all celebrated together as around 50 of our brothers and sisters were baptized, proclaiming to their church family that they professed a saving faith in Christ. It was awesome! Our small group even got to celebrate as 2 of our own took that step, while we cheered them on. It was a great great day.
The only thing that would have made it a little better, a little happier in the parking lot, would have been a Redskins win. I think I picked a bad season to start cheering for the redskins!
